On the 24th of January, the Basque Association of Beach Tennis and Minority Sports organized the VII. Basque Ring Tennis Tournament (Individual) in Elorrieta, Bilbao (Basque Country).
We met at the Elorrieta basketball court like last year. There we prepared two courts, and we started the tournament. We got 10 players together (on the 28th of January we gathered 3 players in Bilbao and we played two matches, both valid for the Basque individual tournament. Maximo participated that day). First, we started with the preliminary round. In that match, Mikel won Jon Ander, but Mikel decided not to continue playing and Jon Ander played the quarter-final match. We played to 15 points, the first to arrive 15 points won.
Egoitz, Eneko, Joseba, and Jesus won their matches quickly. The semi-finals were more doubtful for everyone. Egoitz sweated a lot to beat Eneko who played very well and almost didn’t miss a single ring. Jesus also had a hard time beating Joseba. In the meantime, we had to endure a strong wind that blew our nets more than once.
In the end, Egoitz and Jesus played the final after Eneko beat Joseba in the match for third place. The final was very close and Jesus won a lot of important points but Egoitz managed to get to 15 points after a great effort. In this way, Egoitz won the VII. Basque Tournament of Ring Tennis (Singles). On January 28, Joseba, Egoitz, and Maximo also stayed and played two matches. Maximo beat Joseba and Egoitz beat Maximo.
The idea is to organize the Basque Doubles Tournament after the summer but before that, we will do minor tournaments. These were the results of the VII. Basque Tournament of Ring Tennis (Individual) and final classification: played very well I won quickly and easily their matches.
