The 9th of January, Friday, the Basque Association of Beach Tennis and Minority Sports organized the VIII. Basque Ring Tennis Tournament (Individual) in Altamira, Bilbao (Basque Country). We participated with 7 players.
We gathered at the front of Altamira. We stayed there because, since it was raining, it was a good place to avoid getting wet, as it’s sheltered. Ring tennis was the first sport we played that day. We arrived at the fronton of Altamira, and after setting up the two courts, we started with the first matches. This year, we didn´t play the knockout system because in the beginning, we were just 4-5 players. The rest of the players (2-3) arrived late,r so they play their matches later on.
Egoitz and Joseba Zubiaurre were the best players during the tournament. Egoitz and Joseba both beat Daniel, Jon, and Arrate, and Egoitz and Joseba Zubiaurre played against each other. It was a great game, exciting, tense, and hard-fought at the end. Egoitz managed to win. Arrate beat Dani, and Jon beat Joseba Fernández. Joseba Fernandez also won Mikel Torde at the end of the tournament. That’s how the tournament ended.
The plan is to continue training and play in more tournaments throughout the year: the Ereaga Ring Beach Tennis Tournament, the Basque Doubles Tournament, or the Santutxu Tournament.
